About the book

A practical framework to enable optimum clinical outcomes

Inside Out starts from a simple truth: when care becomes fragmented, delayed, or hard to navigate, the system may be the problem rather than the people within it.

At the heart of Inside Out is OpMod, a practical framework for reviewing pathways, strengthening teams, and making clearer decisions that support better outcomes. The book helps readers look beyond individual tasks to understand how systems, communication, and decision-making shape the quality of care.

The book is designed to help readers move beyond theory and into action. It offers a structured way to examine what is happening around a person’s care, identify where progress is being slowed, and focus attention on the practical changes most likely to improve coordination, confidence, and results.

About Allyson

The Experience behind Inside Out

Allyson Ballard has spent more than two decades working at the intersection of clinical care, leadership, and service design, with experience across NHS services, military rehabilitation at DMRC Headley Court, private healthcare, and complex injury settings.

In 2017, after recognising that many civilians with life-changing injuries could not access coordinated, specialist, and intensive rehabilitation, she co-founded Remedy Healthcare. She went on to lead a model that integrates residential, outpatient, and community rehabilitation with interdisciplinary working, strong clinical governance, and measurable outcomes.

Her work has supported thousands of patients and helped shape complex rehabilitation across NHS, private, and medico-legal settings. She has also advised senior stakeholders, contributed to rehabilitation development linked to Ukraine, worked alongside organisations including the World Health Organisation and Humanity & Inclusion, and supported service governance through The Katie Piper Foundation.
